What kind of kennel is All Creatures Pet Care?

Well it really isn’t a kennel at all! Dogs boarding with us are not separated into dog runs or private rooms. Boarders interact with us and with each other during their entire stay. Dogs are not kept in a separate building, instead they stay in our home and are treated like one of the family. Boarding your dog with us is not much different from your dog being in your own home. Your dog will enjoy freedom to move about indoors throughout our home during the day. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. Doggie gates are used to separate boarders during feeding times. They also have access to a large fenced in yard.

A day at All Creatures Pet Care is like a vacation for your furry friend. They will spend all day enjoying human companionship and the company of other furry guests. The day-to-day schedule of activities varies according to the weather conditions and activity levels of our guests. The day ends with belly rubs, a bedtime snack, and hugs and kisses. Then it’s off to bed to rest up for the next day of fun!

Will my dog be safe and enjoy clean surroundings at All Creatures Pet Care?

Our first priority is the health and safety of our furry guests. That is why we work hard at making sure all areas are cleaned and disinfected continuously. Each new boarder must pass a pre-boarding evaluation and be current on all vaccinations. Human food is never given to boarders unless provided by the owner. Fresh water is available at all times. Boarders are not permitted to run and play immediately after eating. A minimum 2-hour rest period follows each meal to allow for food digestion which helps prevent bloat.

We know that there is no such thing as an indestructible dog toy, therefore all toys are checked regularly for safety. Only appropriate toys made specifically for chewing are provided for our aggressive chewers.

We have extensive experience in dog ownership and animal behavior. We don’t simply watch the dogs play, we play and interact with them, throwing balls and frisbees, scratching bellies and many other activities based on the guests we have staying with us. Caring for dogs really is our passion and proper supervision of our boarders is a serious matter to us. We work hard to insure that all of our boarders are safe and happy.

What is included when my pet stays with you?

Everything your dog needs for a fun and comfortable boarding experience is included in the basic boarding rate. This includes bedding, toys, and nutritious treats. Your dog will have lots of fun enjoying supervised freedom to move about as he pleases. Plenty of interactive indoor, and off-leash outdoor play. The only thing we do not provide is food.

Why do I need to bring my pet’s food?

In order for your dog to remain in good health it is suggested that your dog's diet not change abruptly. You will need to bring enough food for your pet’s entire stay

This is a good opportunity for your dog to earn rewards and feel a sense of accomplishment. We believe that every dog is ready and willing to do whatever we ask if they are given clear direction with love and patience. We do not believe in punishment or any kind of physical or negative training practices. We don't permit aggressive behavior from our furry guests and they are never exposed to it from us. We practice only a reward system with praise and treats. Our years of experience has taught us that dogs love to learn and that they learn more quickly in a fun and relaxed environment.

What if my baby is used to sitting on my lap and being spoiled?

Parents of little doggies do not need to worry about their babies. Spoiling is what we're all about! There are plenty of sofas and pint-sized fluffy beds to go around. The only thing the little ones have to worry about is sharing lap space.

What if my dog is recovering from surgery or is physically challenged?

Many dogs that stay at All Creatures Pet Care simply can’t stay in a traditional kennel. This might be because of special needs such as advancing age, medical issues, nervousness or separation anxiety. These are the pets that benefit most from the individual care and social atmosphere that is unique to All Creatures Pet Care. Lots of love, affection and all the comforts of home ensure that your dog will enjoy his time with us as much as possible and will get all the attention he needs and deserves.

We always pre-screen any pet we agree to board to make sure they have the right temperament to get along with other pets and “play well with others.”

If your pet is recovering from surgery or other medical condition then we may be able to accommodate them. We will need a full history and approval from their veterinarian.

All Special needs pets are accepted for boarding on a case by case basis, and the price per night will be based on a complete evaluation of their needs while staying at All Creatures Pet Care

Why are appointments necessary?

Appointments are necessary for the following reasons:

All Creatures Pet Care is a small, family-owned facility that is operated out of our home. We do not have a full-time office staff available to assist walk-in visitors. As owners, we like to personally meet all of our new clients. We are outdoors much of the time playing with our boarders, and while we welcome new-client visitors it is necessary to always make an appointment to insure that someone will be in the boarding office to assist you. Please note that for security purposes access to our property is restricted by a passcode protected gate.

What is a Pre-Board Assessment and why is itrequired before I can board my dog?

A Pre-Board Assessment is your dog's introduction to boarding at All Creatures Pet Care. Your dog will be evaluated for group play compatibility, canine socialization skills, temperament and behavior qualifications. A Pre-Board Assessment is required prior to boarding for the following reasons:

  1. Our boarders interact with each other at all times; therefore, it is necessary to determine each individual dog's temperament to insure the safety of everyone.
  2. It is stressful for a dog to be dropped off for a long period of time with strangers at a place that is not familiar. The Pre-Board Assessment period is relatively short and your dog will be busy playing the entire time. During the evaluation your dog will learn to feel comfortable with his new surroundings and with the staff at All Creatures Pet Care. When your dog returns for a longer boarding period or regular daycare he will see familiar faces and surroundings, remembering this as a fun place to be, and will not feel abandoned by you. (In fact, upon arrival our regular boarders tend to drag their owners from the car to our door!)

If the Pre-Board Assessment is your dog's first experience with boarding or being away from you, he may need a longer adjustment period to relax and feel comfortable with his new surroundings than the assessment time allows. In that case, an overnight trial board can be scheduled prior to being approved for boarding.

A Pre-Board Assessment is necessary, not only to assess your dog's behavior, but to ensure that your dog will enjoy his boarding experience at All Creatures Pet Care.
